Band Press: [Jazzfest review on Nola.com]

The New Orleans Cottonmouth Kings is a six-piece swing band, created out of the now-defunct New Orleans Jazz Vipers. They’re influenced by the likes of Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Dicky Wells, Benny Carter, and Count Basie. Amplification is not their style, so you can hear some things that you’re not used to hearing in the age of electronically-enhanced sound. You’ll actually have to pipe down and pay attention to this crew.
